Crepe has long been a favorite fabric through the decades as it drapes beautifully, feels luxurious on the skin, and adds weight to what would normally be very light fabrics. It is formed by tightly twisting fibers before the weaving process, giving the fabric a textured look and feel. From early 20th-century silk crepe de chine to 1940s rayon, 1960s and 1970s polyester, to modern-day wool suiting, crepe can be found in just about any fabric. This month, let’s celebrate this wonderful fabric in all its trendy transformations.
